BANTAM OBA WIN AT MITCHELL MINOR BASEBALL DAY
On a soggy Cooper Field under dark clouds and sporadic rain, the Zehr Insurance Bantam boys OBA baseball team laced up their cleats for an exhibition game with the Exeter Express whom they narrowly beat 2 to 1. The game took place on Sunday, June 5th and was part of the 1st (hopefully Annual) Mitchell Minor Baseball Day.

Curtis EIDT took to the mound for the first five innings allowing only one hit and striking out five batters. Kyle RICHARDSON was the closer. He also had an impressive showing permitting only two hits and striking one out as well.

As always, Reid RAMSEYER set the tone early in the game when he fired a rocket to second base and successfully got the runner out who was attempting to steal.

Nothing makes a ball game more exciting than trapping a rival in a pickle, so that’s just what they did in the 3rd inning. Exeter’s first batter found himself in a bit of a situation as he became stranded between 2nd and 3rd base. Second baseman, Jake MONDEN started the rundown, then threw the ball to Darren DIXON who completed a perfect pass to EIDT who then tagged the runner allowing the umpire to make the call we were all waiting for "YOU’RE OUT!"

On the offensive side of things, Ryan HARMER and MONDEN scored their only two runs of the game early in the first inning, which ultimately was enough to win the game.

The boys take on Exeter again Wednesday, June 8th at 7pm.
