Saturday morning, Mitchell came out hitting and took an early lead over Saugeen Shores but finally held on for a 13-11 victory. Brayden Cronin-Horan was solid on the mound. Lead off batter Tanner Dietz and Jake Walker had big hits with Dietz being named player of the game. Later in the day, against Kincardine, Mitchell controlled the entire game winning 16 - 4. Eidt's pitching earned him game MVP, while on offense Dietz scored three runs, while McMann, Ben Small, Wyatt Huitema and Feltz scored two runs each. Richardson had another triple, McMann hit a double and Small had three singles.
Sunday morning against league leading St.Marys, Mitchell had their best game of the year. Mitchell led off the game with four runs, scored four in the third but lost the lead in the fifth to trail 9 -8. But the bottom of the order came through with Devon Fenwick, Evan MacArthur, Huitema and Feltz scoring in Mitchell's share of the final inning. Richardson earned game MVP honours with his great pitching of four plus innings while McMann came in to close out the game and struck out the final batter with the runners on second and third to complete the huge upset with a 12-11 win. McMann started a fabulous double play that went from shortstop to first to third to end the fourth inning. Feltz caught a deep fly ball to ruin the St.Marys rally in the third.
Mitchell then had to take on Exeter in the semi-finals. McMann had a triple in the first, followed by rbi singles by Small and Daum to give Mitchell an early lead but the team ran out of gas to fall 11 - 4 to the eventual tournament champs. Small had a double and Walker had a rbi triple. McMann earned the player of the game award. The teams success was due to everyone contributing offensively, defensively and pitching on the mound. Next up is the OBA championships in Kingsville Labour Day weekend.
