PeeWee's Show Much Promise to Start New Season
Despite their 1-4 record, the Campbell Insurance PeeWee boys have shown much promise to kick of their 2013 campaign.  This group of boys will definately provide some excitement over the course of this coming season and have already proven they have the ability to compete with some of the better teams in our classification.

This past weekend, they competed in the Port Dover Tournament where they recorded their first win over Walsingham by a score of 14-8.  Jake Monden pitched a complete game going 5 innings, with 2 strikeouts and walking 3.  Offensively the boys got off to a slow start and struggled to build any momentum as rain interrupted play early in the game.  After spotting their opposition a 7-1 lead after 3 innings of play, they turned it on by scoring 7 in the 4th and another 6 in the 5th.  Stephen Bird crossed the plate 3 times while Kaleb Baker, Riley Sykes, Reid Ramseyer, and Monden all chipping in with 2 runs each.  Judd Walker, Trevor Dixon and Ryan Harmer all scored as well.  Ramseyer was awarded player of the game for his efforts behind the plate.

In game 2 Saturday vs. Tilsonburg the boys again spotted their opponents and 11-2 lead after 2 innings of play but responded with 4 in the bottom of the 3rd to make the final 13-6.  Dixon and Noah Price shared the pitching duties striking out 1 and walking 2 in the process.  Baker, Price, Dixon, Bird, Jackson MacArthur and Harmer all plated runs.  MacArthur was awarded player of the game honours for his fine defensive work @ 2nd base.

In game 3 vs. Paris, Price, backed by some great defensive work, stymied the opposition by giving up only 4 hits - striking out 2 and walking 3 through three innings of work.  Baker, who lead off the bottom of the first with a deep triple deep to right centre, scored Mitchell's first run.  In the second, Dixon drew a leadoff walk and worked his way around the bases to plate the second run.  Unfortunately, a pitch count reporting discrepancy ended up resulting in a disqualification but it was a moral victory for the boys as they played some great baseball against a very talented Paris squad.  Price was awarded player of the game for his efforts on the mound.

In their season opener @ Ilderton on May 23rd, the boys fell short 10-7 playing in some very miserable weather conditions. Price and Dixon shared the pitching duties and runs were scored by Curtis Eidt (2), Baker, Walker, Sykes and Dixon (2).

On May 27th in St. Marys, one bad defensive inning where the boys surrendered the maximum 6 runs was the difference in an otherwise close contest.  Sykes and Eidt shared the pitching duties striking out 4 and walking 1.  Eidt, Dixon, Price and Luke O'Rourke all tallied runs for Mitchell who ended up on the short side of a 9-4 contest.

In upcoming action, the boys play their home opener vs. St. Marys this Wednesday, June 5th and follow-up with another home contest vs. North Middlesex the following week on Tuesday, June 11th.
