Two Wins To End Regular Season Play
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Tier 2 Team 1 Major Rookies ended their regular season play on a high note with two wins this week.  Heavy hitting by the Astros would lead to a 25-18 win over Listowel on Monday and a 24-17 win over the Mitchell Tier 2 Team 2 Rookies on Wednesday.

In Listowel, Brooklyn Boville and Hayden Nicholson would lead the scoring with four runs each while Charlie Geiger and Blake Redfern each pounded doubles for multiple runs batted in. Keegan Priestap, Brennan Ward, and Jacob Bice would each cross the plate three  times in the high scoring game. While in the field, Geiger had a hot glove on short as did Nicholson on second who managed to field a double play against the Listowel players in the third inning.

In Mitchell on Wednesday, the Team 1 Rookies would be down 7-1 after the first inning, but that would not discourage the players as they battled back to score 6 runs in the second and kept the bats on a roll for the rest of the game. Nicholson would lead the scoring with five runs, followed by Josie Walker who would cross the plate four times during the game. Geiger, Calum Harris, Lincoln Lorentz and Max Vandervelde also had hot bats and would score three times each in the win.

The Tier 2 Team 1 Major Rookies look to keep their win streak alive as they head into their year end tournament to be held in Mitchell this weekend.
