Astros Fall To Listowel In Season Finale
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Tier 2 Team 1 Major Rookies fell to Listowel 19-10 in their fourth game of the WOBA tournament held in Mitchell this weekend. The team played a strong game but Listowel's batters had good luck pounding the ball up the middle of the diamond. Outfielders Brooklyn Boville, Calum Harris, Carter O'Brien, Max Vandervelde, Lincoln Lorentz and Jacob Bice did a great job knocking down the ball and getting it back to the infield quickly. Outs were made on the base paths by first baseman Blake Redfern, second base Hayden Nicholson, short stop Charlie Geiger and Josie Walker on third base. Brennan Ward knocked down grounders playing in the pitcher's position and Keegan Priestap did a great job catching the game.
Mitchell's bats came up a bit short despite each player on the team getting at least one hit in the game with Walker, Vandervelde and Priestap all hitting doubles. Walker would score twice for the team while Nicholson, Redfern, Geiger, Ward, O'Brien, Vandervelde, Lorentz, and Bice each crossed the plate once.
A huge thank you goes out to coaches Steve Geiger, Tim Walker, Julie Boville and Jeff Redfern for volunteering their time and talent to give the team a great year! All players showed growth in their game and had fun along the way...a tribute to great coaching!
