Walther's IDA Tier 2 WIns Big in the Bend
On Thursday July 9, the Walther's IDA Tier 2 Major Rookie team travelled to Grand Bend. They would face the Grand Bend Red team. After a scoreless first inning, the Astros bats came to life, hammering out 24 hits including 5 doubles enroute to a convincing 15-3 win.
The offensive outbreak was lead by Jordan Visneskie who had 3 hits including 2 doubles. Ben Medhurst and Jade Huygen would also slug out three hits, recording a double each. Joel Meinen, Raylynn Bambrough and Zach Huygen would also reach base 3 times, recording 3 singles a piece. Darius Ladd and Payton Wood would each hit two singles.
The defence was very tight all game recording several outs. The highlight of the night goes to Joel Meinen for his line drive catch at first base which he turned into a double play. Nolan Vessie also had a strong game recording several outs at first base.
Next action is Tuesday night in town as they play the other Tier 2 Mitchell entry.
