THE RALLY CAPS CAME OUT IN THE FIFTH! by: Heather Monden
Sunday, June 21st the Campbell Insurance Bantam boys WOBA team met up with the Kincardine Cardinals in Mitchell with the intent to redeem themselves after the slaughtering they took in Kincardine the week before.

Mitchell started off strong winning the first inning 1 to 0.  Trevor DIXON was on the mound for over half the game while Ryan HARMER assumed the catcher’s position for the entire game.  DIXON left the first batter standing as he struck him out and shortstop, Judd WALKER, took care of the next two outs with perfect throws to first baseman, Alec MURRAY.  HARMER scored the sole run of the inning.

The next three innings were a different story, however, as Kincardine scored 14 runs to our one.  Brenden BOVILLE was the only Mitchell player who successfully crossed home plate.

As they headed into the fifth and final inning the team knew they had to hold Kincardine as they only needed a few more runs to mercy Mitchell and end the game.  The boys came back to life in that final inning.  James COPELAND was now on the mound.  Mitchell did not allow Kincardine any runs and COPELAND struck out their last batter allowing Mitchell the opportunity one last crack at the bats before the time limit was met.   With rally caps on, the team was keen to even up this game.  Johannes RENECKER took to the batter’s box and was the first one to cross home plate during the inning.  He was followed by Tyson McINTOSH, Ashton CNOCKAERT, BOVILLE, HARMER and DIXON.  The boys brought in six more runs and ended the game with a score of 14 to 8.
