Stratford RV Centre’s Mitchell Minor Red Team met Goderich Black at home Diamond A on Tuesday, June 28th. The Home team came out ready to win! In the first inning, Jack Crowley picked up a grounder on third base and tagged the runner! Carter Miller was a wall on short as he grabbed a grounder and tagged the Goderich runner heading for third!
Finally, Carson Brown was back catching. He tagged the Goderich batter who had a small hit off the T, thus gaining the third out for the first inning. The Mitchell Boys ALL made solid hits off the batting machine creating a 7-3 lead for the hometown team by the end of the first!.
During the second inning of play Carter Miller scooped up a hit to the pitcher’s mound and ran the ball to first to ensure the out! Due to the amazing infielding and solid throws to first base, Carson Brown was able to establish 2 more solid outs in the inning. The Mitchell Minor Reds allowed only one run in during the second inning of non-stop action play! When Mitchell took to the bats, Jack Crowley hit a pop-fly way out to the right field allowing the home team to gain 2 RBI’s on a single hit. The team gained another 7 runs in this inning!
During the third inning, Colby Faust tried for an out on first with a hard hit ball down the first-base line. He was assisted by Jack Crowley with a fantastic cover. Their efforts were tremendous, but just couldn’t make the out at first. Caleb Pennings was solid on short stop! He grabbed a hart hit ball and tried to tag the runner. The Goderich player was called out for going off the base line. The fans were out of their seats!!! Connor Eisler took the additional two outs himself at third base! Nothing could get past Connor or Caleb during the inning! The Mitchell Red’s were watching where the play was going and had solid efforts by all team members!
In the bottom of the third, Jack Crowley hit a bomb out to the left field for a double! Blake Otten had solid hits off the machine at every bat! The team work and effort of all the boys was fantastic! The home team won the game with a final score of 16 - 6. Way to go MItchell Minor Red!
