Rookies Finish Off Regular Season Undefeated
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros capped a terrific undefeated regular season with a 32-22 road win over the Listowel Legionnaires on July 28th.  The locals finished the season at 18-0, and next face the Goderich Seahawks in opening league playoff action on August 5th in Mitchell.
Carson Harmer opened the game with a triple and scored on Zach Houben's RBI single.  Kellen Russwurm cashed two more runs with a triple to stake the Astros to a 4-0 lead, and added a second based-loaded triple the next inning as Mitchell plated six more runs.

The home team kept pace for much of the game, scoring every inning to keep the score close at 20-15 after five innings of play.  Harmer stroked a three-run homer in the 6th inning, and Houben added a bases-clearing triple in the seven-run 7th.  Extra base hits were also recorded by Joel Meinen, Charlie Geiger, Jack Miller, and Hayden Nicholson.  Russwurm led with five RBI's, and Houben paced the scoring by plating five runs.  Four runs each were scored by Jordan Visneskie, Dominic Marshall, and Nicholson.  Ryan Hubbard, Houben, Meinen, Russwurm, Visneskie, and Nicholson all reached base safely in each at-bat.
Harmer, Marshall, and Ben Medhurst made several fly ball outs in the outfield, and combined with the infield to throw out two runners twice trying to score home runs on deep hit balls.  Visneskie also had two outfield assists.
