Rookies Sweep Home And Home Exhibition Series With Listowel
The Mitchell Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros swept both games of a home and home exhibition series with WOBA league champs Listowel Legionnaires this week, shutting out the visitors 12-0 on August 9th and returning home on August 10th with a 23-6 victory.

In Listowel, the Astros opened up a 16-0 lead through three innings as Carson Harmer led off the game with a single and trotted home on Dominic Marshall's RBI triple.  Ben Medhurst would also drive in Jack Miller with his own RBI triple in the opening inning.  Charlie Geiger had a career night at the plate, smashing a triple, three doubles, and driving in five runs total.  Miller was a perfect 5-for-5 and Medhurst paced the scoring with four runs.  Extra base hits were also recorded by Kellen Russwurm, Ryan Hubbard, and Harmer.  Hayden Nicholson caught two fly ball outs, and Miller's perfect relay throw from Russwurm to Jordan Visneskie gunned down a runner at third trying to stretch a deep hit into a triple.
In Mitchell on Aug 9th, the locals opened up a 4-0 lead in the first inning and shut down the Listowel bats all night long for the shutout victory.  The top of the order started the ball rolling exactly the same in both games, as Marshall would once again drive in Harmer with an RBI triple following a leadoff base hit.  Marshall belted a solo home run in the 5th inning to finish 4-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI's.  Harmer and Visneskie each tripled, and Hubbard, Visneskie, and Darius Ladd would each add a double.  Zach Houben and Ladd both recorded flyball outs in the outfield to pace the overall solid defensive effort.
