Surging Offense Paces Rookie Exhibition Win
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros hosted the DMBA Select Black Sox in an exhibition match on August 23rd, notching a 28-9 victory.
Carson Harmer continued to set the tone at the top of the order, falling a double short of the cycle in a 6-for-6 effort with five runs scored and 3 RBI's.  Ryan Hubbard and Kellen Russwurm also had strong nights at the plate, with Hubbard smashing two triples and finishing 4-for-5 with four runs scored and five RBI's.  Russwurm reached base in all five at-bats, hammering a triple and double, and adding 4 RBI's.

The well-balanced attack that has been the success formula all year was on display once again, as all ten Mitchell batters drove in and scored at least one run in the victory.  Affiliate call-up Logan Verberne contributed a 4-for-5 effort at the plate, including two doubles, two RBI's, and an aggressive slide at home plate to score a run.
Extra base hits were also recorded by Jack Miller and Joel Meinen, and Ben Medhurst and Darius Ladd each drove in three runs.
On the defensive side, Meinen threw out a runner at second from left field and Zach Houben used his speed to track down many balls in the gap to limit the opponents to single bases.
Next up for the locals is a home-and-home exhibition series with the Stratford Indians, leading into the OBA Provincial Championship on Labour Day Weekend in Port Lambton.
