Rookies Down Stratford Indians in Exhibition Play
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros hosted the Stratford Indians in exhibition play on Aug 25th, downing the visitors by a score of 14-4.  The locals held their opponents off the scoresheet for the first two innings, but struck first in the opening inning as Carson Harmer and Kellen Russwurm both hit triples, the latter knocking in Jack Miller with the second run.  Dominic Marshall drove in Harmer with an RBI single to open the scoring, and Ben Medhurst plated Russwurm with a sac fly to build a 3-0 lead.

The speedy Harmer was a threat on the base paths all night, stroking two doubles and two triples, and scoring three times.  Russwurm reached base safely in each at-bat, and along with Miller also scored three times.  Medhurst and Darius Ladd each led with three RBI's.  Extra base hits were also recorded by Ryan Hubbard, Hayden Nicholson, and call-up Logan Verberne.
Miller and Joel Meinen made key fly ball outs in the outfield, and Hubbard and Zach Houben were steady on the infield corners all night.
Mitchell travels to Stratford on Aug 31st to complete the home-and-home series, then finishing off the season at the OBA Provincial 'D' Championships in Port Lambton on Labour Day Weekend.
