Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Blue Tier 2 Major Rookies traveled to Goderich Thursday, June 9th, 2016 to face Team "Grey". Mitchell's bats and defense where hot as they took this game 20 - 8.
Some big at bats came from Keegan Priestap, Calum Harris and Ryan Klumper each recording a double. Reaching base at each at bat was Olen Hopf, Drew Kemp and Matthew Meneheere.
Mitchell would take the first inning with a large lead of 5 runs as the inning closed at 6 - 1. Keegan Priestap recorded the only out of the inning on a fly ball to first base.
In the second inning, Mitchell would increase their lead by two runs and hold off Goderich from scoring any. Brooklyn Boville at short stop would make a great catch on a ground ball and throw out the runner at second with the hot glove of Jose Walker. Griffin Bree would catch another ground ball headed to third base where he would record the only other out of the inning.
In the third inning both Goderich and Mitchell would score three runs each putting the score at 11 - 4. Keegan Priestap would have a red hot glove on first base recording two outs on balls hit to him at first base. Olen Hopf would show off a strong arm as he would field a ground ball at 3rd and hit Keegan Priestaps sure glove at first for the final out of the inning.
In the fourth inning Mitchell would put up 7 runs and hold Goderich to their 4 taking the lead 18 - 4. The only out of the inning would come from Logan Verberne fielding a grounder to hit Wade Campbell at first base.
The fifth and final inning would see Mitchell record two runs to Goderich's four and take the game 20 - 8. Matthew Meneheere would tag out the runner on the way to second base for the first out and Griffin Bree would throw out the runner going home with Jose Walker at Catcher.
