AND THAT'S A WALK OFF...
The Zehr Insurance WOBA Bantam Blue baseball team had a win and a loss this week.  They travelled to Clinton on Monday night where they struggled to get any hits and left with an 8 to 4 loss.  On Wednesday night, however, they hosted Goderich Black and brought their A game and mercied them 11 to 1 in the 6th inning.

On Monday, the Mitchell boys were scoreless until the 4th when finally Reid RAMSEYER crossed the plate.  At the top of the 5th Curt EIDT, Brayden CRONIN-HORAN and Nathan HOOD all scored runs leaving them only down by one and in a good position to overcome the Clinton Mustangs.  Clinton answered back with three more runs and Mitchell could not recover despite squeezing in one last at bat with only 2 mins left before the cut-off time.

The defensive play of the game occurred in the 2nd inning when a Clinton batter hit a fly ball to right field where Tristan BEEHLER made a last ditch effort dive in an attempt to get the out but fell slightly short.  Jackson MACARTHUR was there to cover.  The runner was not stopping so MACARTHUR chucked the ball to shortstop, EIDT, who then relayed it to Jake WALKER on 3rd making a beauty out and robbing them of a potential run.

On Wednesday, the boys were in much better form.  Nearly everyone recorded at least one hit and they had their running legs on too.  The team had a total of 13 stolen bases, so it was no wonder they dominated all game long.  The boys got themselves into a scoring position every chance they could which allowed Jake MONDEN, EIDT, MACARTHUR, Brenden BOVILLE AND CRONIN-HORAN to add RBI’s to their stats.

Ryan HARMER, RAMSEYER, and MACARTHUR each scored three runs with singles added by MONDEN and BOVILLE.

EIDT had a very successful night on the mound accumulating 10 K’s.  Once he hit his max of 90 pitches, WALKER came in to finish the job and he did so with ease, and he added a strike-out of his own.

As the game neared the end, RAMSEYER and MACARTHUR talked strategy as they waited for the Goderich pitcher to finish taking his warm up pitches at the bottom of the 6th.  RAMSEYER was up first and got walked.  MACARTHUR took his position in the batter’s box and like clockwork RAMSEYER stole 2nd, and before the pitcher could even get situated RAMSEYER took off again and stole 3rd.  Now it was up to MACARTHUR to hit his teammate home and, just like they planned, he did giving the team a walk off mercy.

Good job boys!
