Mosquitos Fall to Oakridge Tincaps
The Feeney Design Build Mosquito Astros travelled to London on July 4th to face the Oakridge Tincaps, dropping a 10-4 decision to the home team.
The Astros started off strong with a leadoff walk to Brennan Ward, and consecutive RBI doubles by Blake Redfern, Josh French, and Kellen Russwurm to take a 3-0 lead. Jacob Bye would also double in the inning, but was left stranded. However, the Tincaps would answer back in the bottom half with five runs of their own, never relinquishing the lead for the remainder of the game. Starter Josh French struck out the side in the second inning, and gave way to Blake Redfern for two innings of work. Redfern notched five strikeouts, and Russwurm finished up in the final inning. It was a tough night overall at the plate for the Astros, who were victimized on a total of 14 strikeouts by Tincap pitchers. The locals managed just one hit the last three innings, a two-out double by Redfern in the fifth.
