Mosquitos Record Consecutive Wins
The Feeney Design Build Mosquito Astros notched back-to-back victories this week, downing Listowel Legionnaires #1 at home on July 11th by a score of 15-12, and then hanging on for a 9-8 road win at Goderich Seahawks Grey on July 12th.

At home vs Listowel, the Mitchell bats went to work early, building a 10-0 lead through three innings.  Leadoff batter Brennan Ward started off with a base hit, followed by consecutive walks to Blake Redfern and Kellen Russwurm.  All three would score on Jordan Visneskie's grand slam home run.  Calum Harris would walk and also score that inning.  Visneskie added a two-run double in the next inning, agains scoring Ward and Redfern.  Listowel's bats would finally come alive, scoring six runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, but Mitchell would add five more runs in the fourth to keep the lead for good.  Max VanderVelde had a keen eye, drawing three walks during the game, and Jacob Bye also reached base in each at-bat.
Starter Brennan Ward was effective on the mound, notching five strikeouts in his two innings of work.  Russwurm and Bye finished up in relief.
At Goderich on Wednesday night, the locals again scored early and often, quickly opening up a 5-0 lead in the first inning as Ward led off the game with a double and the Astros took advantage of some pitching control issues with several walks and wild pitches.  Ward also stroked a solo home run in the top of the sixth, and Russwurm would walk and score the eventual winning run behind him.  The Seahawks mounted a late rally in the bottom of the seventh on reliever Nolan Vessie, plating the maximum six runs, but it was not enough and fell short by a run.
Starter Redfern and Josh French also shared the pitching duties.
