Major Mosquito OBA Win Home Opener
The Mitchell Stickhandler Major Mosquito OBA Astros won their ICBA home open on June 3rd, shutting out Waterloo by a score of 11-0. Starter Dominic Marshall gave up two hits over three innings with three strikeouts, and was relieved by Kellen Russwurm who struck out four of the seven batters he faced.
After a quick top half of the opening inning that featured a double-play from Marshall and first baseman Dawson White, the locals jumped on the bats quickly to open up a 3-0 lead. Carson Harmer and White reached base, and Jordan Visneskie followed with a long home run to deep right centre. White would also stroke two triples and score three times while driving in two. Russwurm had two RBI's, and Jack Miller, Cody Bach, and Ben Medhurst each drove in one. Extra base hits were also recorded by Miller and Bach, and Harmer and Medhurst each were credited with a stolen base.
Next up for the Astros is a home-and-home with the Listowel Legionnaires Mosquito OBA, traveling to Listowel on Fri June 8th, and hosting them back in Mitchell on Diamond A at 6:30pm on Sun June 10th.
