Mustangs Edge Out the Astros
The D.L. Hannon, Mosquito OBAs had shown a great outing on the bats as
they came out swinging against Clinton on July 2nd.
Mitchell was able to break through Clinton by scoring 9 runs in the first two innings. Clinton was ready to fight back and was held at 5 runs, but Mitchell held strong making some key outs with Brayden Hoegy running in to make a key outfield catch, Ryan Klumper and Charlie Wolfe making outs at home plate when the Mustangs attempted to steal in a passed ball. Mitchell was quick on their feet to move, as they took advantage of any chance they could throughout the game with their base running. The Mustangs's pitching held the Astros humble for a couple more innings, only allowing 3 additional runs to cross the plate. Mitchell's defense stood strong all game seeing impressive line drives caught by Carson Brown at third, and Landon VanBakel make some quick plays from short stop, to hold Clinton at their base and making the outs at first. Clinton was able to battle back on the bats and were able to score few more runs throughout the game. Clinton managed to edge out the visiting Astros 13-12, in the bottom of the fifth inning.
