Marshall Drives In Six In Win At Waterloo
Dominic Marshall reached base in all five at-bats and drove in six runs, leading the Mitchell Stratford RV Peewee OBA Astros to an 18-14 back-and-forth slugfest win over the host Waterloo Tigers on a July 3rd humid night of ICBA action.

As they've done so many times, the high-octane Astro offense went to work immediately in the opening inning, batting around the order.  Jarrett Van Bakel and Cody Bach each hit two-run doubles as the visitors quickly moved out to a 6-0 lead.  Mitchell would build the lead to 10-4 after two, as Van Bakel hit his second two-run double of the game.  Leading 12-5 in the middle of the third, the Mitchell defense fell asleep in the steamy weather, giving up 8 runs on three walks, an error, and a hit batsman.  Now behind 13-12, the locals once again erupted for another 6 runs to pull back ahead and never look back.  Van Bakel and Jack Miller stroked deep triples, and Kellen Russwurm hit a double, scoring on Marshall's bases-clearing double.
Van Bakel drew the start on the mound and, to keep pitching fresh for the Mitchell Peewee Tournament this coming weekend, handed the ball to Carson Harmer in the third for two innings, and Ryan Hubbard to close out the victory.
Strong defensive plays were made in the heat, with catcher Russwurm throwing out a Tiger runner on an attempted steal and centre fielder Harmer gunning down a runner at the plate trying to score from second on a one-out single.  Miller was solid defensively at first, blocking balls in the dirt and scooping up one-hoppers.  Right fielder Bach also gunned out a runner at first on a hard hit liner.
The Astros open tournament play this weekend on Friday night at 6pm vs Alvinston at Cooper Field.  Round robin play continues on Saturday at Cooper, facing Flesherton at 10am and Binbrook at 230pm.  Playoff rounds are set to begin at 10am on Sunday at Keterson Park.
