Peewee OBA Fall in Semi-Final in Mitchell Tournament
The Mitchell Stratford RV Peewee OBA Astros went undefeated in the round robin of the Mitchell Peewee Tournament, but were eliminated 7-2 in the semi-finals on Sunday morning by the eventual champion Wyoming Wranglers.

Wyoming jumped on the bats quickly, converting a leadoff double, two more base hits, and an infield error into a 2-0 lead.  The Astros went quietly in the bottom half with three straight groundouts, as Wyoming's starter efficiently pitched to contact for the complete game victory with zero walks.  Trailing 5-0 after 1 1/2 innings, Mitchell got on the board with an RBI double by Jack Miller, scoring Jordan Visneskie who had led off the inning with a single.  Shutting down the Wrangler bats in the top of the third, the locals gained some momentum in the bottom half as Cody Bach and Kellen Russwurm opened with base hits, moving up on Carson Harmer's sacrifice bunt.  Josh French delivered an RBI groundout to cut the Wyoming lead to three runs.  Strong defense by the Wranglers would only allow three more Mitchell runners the remainder of the game, with the big blow in the bottom of the 4th when the Astros would fail to score with second and third and nobody out.  Wyoming would go on to defeat the Dorchester Diamondbacks 9-3 in the final to capture the championship.
The locals opened tournament play on Friday evening vs Alvinston, who kept it close for the opening inning as Mitchell led 1-0.  The Astros erupted for 13 runs in the 2nd inning as Alvinston ran into pitching troubles with 9 walks mixed in with run-scoring triples by Visneskie and Russwurm.  Mitchell would add two more runs in the third for the 16-0 mercy win.  Visneskie would notch the win for the Astros.
Saturday morning the locals faced Flesherton, a familiar opponent from the Kincardine tournament last month.  Leading 2-0 after two innings, the Astros opened up the scoring with four runs in the third and six in the fourth for a 12-0 mercy win.  Caleb Templeman started on the mound, relieved by Joel Meinen in the third to finish out the game.  Meinen, French, Miller, and Jarrett Van Bakel each scored two runs in the win.
The final round robin game was Saturday afternoon vs an unfamiliar opponent Binbrook.  Declared visitors after the coin toss, Mitchell went to work right away on the bats, building a 3-0 lead on Van Bakel's 2-run triple scoring French and Visneskie.  Binbrook would answer back in the bottom half with a leadoff double that would come around to score, but the Astros continued to score every inning on route to a 17-4 win.  Van Bakel and Templeman reached base in every at-bat, with Van Bakel scoring four runs in support of winning pitcher French, with Keegan Priestap in relief.
