Harmer's Bat Stays Hot As Peewees Split Doubleheader With Woodstock
Carson Harmer continued playing long ball this past weekend for the Mitchell Stratford RV Peewee OBA Astros, as they earned a split with Woodstock during ICBA doubleheader action in Mitchell on July 20th.  Harmer stroked an inside-the-park home run in a 12-7 losing effort in the opening match, and then smacked another one in the second game, won 16-6 by the Astros.

Caleb Templeman drew the start for the locals in game one during a steamy summer afternoon, and an aggressive Woodstock team quickly built a 6-0 lead after two at-bats.  Mitchell would answer back in the bottom of the second with three runs as Templeman, Jack Miller, and Cody Bach all came in to score on a combination of hits and errors.
Jordan Visneskie relieved Templeman to start the third, and Ryan Hubbard would finish up in relief.  Harmer's home run was the only extra-base hit of the game for the Astros, who had a rare quiet game on the bats.
Things turned around in the second game however, fueled by a halftime Subway platter feast.  Josh French drew the start for the home team, and Woodstock again took a quick 4-0 lead after two at-bats.  But this time the Astros exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the second, hitting deep ball after deep ball, highlighted by Bach's grand slam home run.  The Astros would add seven more runs in the last two innings, including Harmer's second blast of the day.  French would give way to Hubbard to close out the win.
