Junior Mitchell Astros are finally back on the diamond competing in the MOSBL
(Midwestern Ontario Senior Baseball League) after two years of Covid ball. It’s been a bit of a slow start due to rain,
but now have three games under our belt.
Our home opener was Tuesday, May 31, 2022, versus Kincardine. Eric GETTLER dominated on the mound for five innings. We held the lead until the 6th inning when Kincardine snuck ahead and ended the game with a 6 to 4 win over us.
Friday, June 3, 2022, the Astros were on the road to Woodstock for Game 2. WALKER started the game with a three-run dinger over the left field fence. The Astros were strong with few errors and made great plays every inning. Woodstock tied the game up in the 4th and it stayed that way until the bottom of the 6th when they took the lead. Woodstock won 8 to 3.
Tuesday, June 14, 2022, the Astros got it’s first W on home turf at Game 3. Listowel came to town and competed hard to take away our lead in the 7th inning, but we didn’t give up and ended the game 13 to 12 with a walk-off scored by WALKER. Jake MONDEN went 4 for 4 at bat with 3 doubles and a single. GETTLER started on the mound and WALKER took over to finish the game.
Game 4 is Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in Mitchell vs Byron.
