Stratford RV Minor Rookie visits Goderich Black
The Stratford RV Minor Rookies travelled to face the Goderich Black Minor Rookie team last week with their full game faces on!

The team would prove they were sharp beginning with a first-inning keeping the fans eyes peeled open. Up to bat first, the team would work hard to place the ball in the field for continuous run after run to give them the start that they would need with seven runs in eight batters. Strong hits from Liam Baker all the way through to the last run scored by Michael Coyne with a blast hit in the air to make it one of Coyne's greatest hits yet this year. In the field the squad would again keep the pace defensively stopping the Goderich Black hosts at two runs in the inning. Owen Jarmuth was on the ball time after time at first base to take control and get the out also with help from the other sharp fielders. Pitchers Caleb Pennings and Lucas DeJong would assist in the first base outs along with a great effort in the left side in field by Cameron Dietz and Alise Crawford at shortstop and third base. Allowing only two runs in the first inning the Stratford RV Minor Rookies would start the 2ND with an impressive lead of 7 to 2.

The half way point of the game during the second inning would be eventful as tables turned and the Stratford RV Minor Rockies came up four runs shy of a perfect inning at bat. Goderich turned on the heat with a full seven runs and fire at the bat. The Mitchell rookies worked hard and battled through pushing through the game to the third inning with a tight score of 10 - 9.

First up to bat in the third inning Alise Crawford would drill a ball through the infielders gloves to land on base followed by Ethan Faulhaffer, Liam Baker and Miranda Scherbarth for runs scored.  Also a great show of hits included in the third by Caleb Pennings, Owen Jarmuth, Phoebe Wood and Caleb Faulhaffer. Again to end the inning, the defensive Stratford RV Rookies would work hard and show no fear at shutting down Goderich with great plays from Pitchers, Crawford and Jarmuth tossing to 1st baseman Cole Templeman allowing Goderich Black to just a 2-run inning.  I would also add the quick readiness of our catcher always ready for anything,  Cameron Dietz.  The final score would settle at 14-11 ...and a very impressed coaching staff with their fast improving team keeping the opponents from crossing the plate often with just 11 runs in 3 innings.  Way to go Stratford RV Minor Rookies!  Looking forward to another two game week for the Rookies.
