Stratford RV Minor Rookies battle hard July 15th
The Stratford RV Minor Rookies took to the diamond this past Saturday to Play 3 hard fought games back to back vs Lucan/Ilderton, and twice against Goderich to battle for a spot in the A finals in the Mitchell hosted Minor Rookies Tournament.

Starting out bright and early Saturday morning the Rookies would come ready to play as they took at bat and continuously hit ball after ball to score 7 runs in the 1st inning against the Lucan/Ilderton squad.  Lucas Dejong would begin the order with a powerful hit to the out field.  Mitchell would continue their drive for the field as they would make several stunning plays at 1st base with Michael Coyne receiving all 3 outs in the inning with great throws from Liam Baker and Caleb Pennings letting just 1 run in. The following two innings would continue to be eventful with several stellar hits from Coyne's double to Alise Crawfords bullet hit, continuing through to Miranda Scherbarths infield bouncer!! The fielding would be no different and just as thrilling with outstanding efforts from 2nd baseman Caleb Pennings and multiple effortless tosses to place outs at base from Cole Templeman and Dejong to conclude with a win of 19-12.

In the 1130 game the Stratford RV Minor Rookies would continue to battle hard with scoring runs in the 1st by Cam Dietz, Ethan Faulhaffer and Owen Jarmuth to name a few,  but would struggle to score midway through the game with the visiting Goderich team making plays at base allowing only 1 run for Mitchell in the second inning. The team fought hard through out the game with fine hits from Caleb Faulhaffer , Alise Crawford and Miranda Scherbarth while also getting some outs with Liam Baker at 1st from Jarmuth however couldn't stop the Seahawks from scoring multiple runs in each inning to clench an inevitable win for the opponents of 19-15.

Game 3 the team would find themselves facing the Goderich team once again to land a spot in the A finals. Both teams came out hot and fired up scoring run after run with runners too fast to make many outs at base. After 3 innings the team would come up with an even score 21-21 that would need to be broken. With a 4th inning abroad Mitchell would take bat starting with Caleb Pennings hammering a double past the Goderich Seahawks in fielders reach. Following that hits would come from Owen Jarmuth and Phoebe Wood, but with a 1-out rule the Stratford RV Minor Rookies would fail to clench a run in their up to bat. Goderich would follow suit as Coyne would tag their player at 1st to take the out with again no runs scored. Trying to end this tie breaker in a fairly and timely matter was not going to happen easy as a 5th and final inning would begin.  With Templeman up to bat, he would land on base along with the next 4 batters placing Templeman across the plate for one run, no sooner afterwards however we would be thrown out at 3rd base to end our glory.  In the field team Mitchell would make a play stopping the 4th batter at 1st base from Pennings to Jarmuth but not before Goderich  would score 2 runs leaving the Stratford RV Minor Rookies coming up 1 run shy for the win.

3 exciting games well played by the Stratford RV Minor Rookies once again and entertainment provided for all fans young and old.
