Mosquito League Week 1 Recap
This week Mitchell Minor Baseball kicked off there mosquito houseleague. Ontario Baseball has cancelled all provincial championships, and almost all neighboring centers have cancelled there 2020 baseball season. So there wont be any travel ball happening for the kids in Mitchell this year. MMB executive are determined to offer a safe shortened houseleague season with safety precautions in place, to give the kids a chance to get out and throw the ball around and see there friends. In the mosquito aged group there are 3 teams that will play 1 night a week
                    


Game 1    Team red- 7 vs team blue- 8

In the opener of the season, both team red and team blue played well, pleasantly surprising the coaches. Lots of first years pitched and hit off live pitching for the first time, and did really well. For team blue, carter miller and landon van bakel led the offense. Miller drove in 2 runs and van bakel scored twice. First year players cam dietz and Bryson eickmeyer both looked comfortable at the plate, both added extra base hits. Ray wolfe was strong on the mound for team blue. For team red, 4 different pitchers took the mound. First years greg McKay and logan Montgomery, looked very comfortable, both notched a strike out. On the offense josh cook had the long bomb of the night. Hitting a towering double driving in 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Ainsley berendsen and connor wolfe each reached base twice in the game. In the end team blue pulled out a walkoff victory in the opener

Game 2-  Team black- 7  vs Team red- 4

Team black started strong with owen beuerman tossing a strong 1st inning, with adding 3 hits on offense. Owen jarmuth, Isaak smith, and Hudson porter also tossed well in the victory. Nate uniac reached base twice and will poppe added a double to contribute to the win. For team red, the pitchers threw well, the offense just couldn't get going against strong pitching. Wolfe threw a scoreless inning in defeat. Rookie sean gibbings toed the rubber for the first time and pitching really well. Carson brown reached base twice and scored both times. Jack Crowley didn't get out in the game, adding 2 hits with a walk sprinkled in.
