Major Mosquito OBA Bats Explode in Win Over Kitchener
The Mitchell Stickhandler Major Mosquito OBA Astros hosted Kitchener on July 25th in Inter-County Baseball Association action, soundly defeating their visitors 18-1 in a three-inning mercy win.

After the defense put up a tidy three up / three down in the opening inning, the bats went to work right away putting up four runs to take an early lead.  The big blow came in the bottom of the third, as the Astros erupted for 14 runs to put the game away.
Starter Jordan Visneskie tossed a two-hitter, while walking two batters and striking out four.  Joel Meinen came on in the bottom of the fourth to mop up, striking out the final batter.
Kellen Russwurm stroked a double and triple with 4 RBI's, and Cody Bach and Ben Medhurst each added 3 RBI's with an extra-base hit.  Visneskie scored three times and six other players each crossed the plate twice, once again displaying the team depth in offense.  Alert base-running was also key, with Visneskie, Medhurst, and Dominic Marshall each with two stolen bases to lead a team total of eight.
Defensively the squad was sound, allowing four base-runners and turning a double play as second baseman Marshall dove to his left in the hole to snare a liner, doubling off a runner at second.
Next action is tomorrow night July 27th, when the Astros host the Waterloo Tigers at Keterson Park 6:30pm on Diamond A.
