Bantam OBA, 2016 (Mitchell Minor Baseball)

Labour Day weekend signifies the end of summer holidays for most kids, but for the Zehr Insurance Bantam OBA team it’s the weekend they have been waiting and preparing for all summer. It is their OBA Championship tournament in Wallaceburg.

25 degrees with a breeze was the perfect weather for the Zehr Insurance Bantam OBA boys to play their round robin tournament hosted by Kincardine Minor Baseball last weekend. They had an excellent weekend and made it to the semi-finals on Sunday against Corunna.

The Zehr Insurance OBA bantam boys were in high spirits as they warmed up on the London Badgers Minor baseball field prior to their game on Monday night.  They followed their pregame rituals and readied themselves for a tough game against the 2nd place team in their league.  Our Mitchell boys scored early in the game and held the lead until the bottom of the third.  They then kept the game tied until the bottom of the 5th when a couple errors and big hits aided the Badgers in scoring and eventually winning the game 6 to 1. 

On a soggy Cooper Field under dark clouds and sporadic rain, the Zehr Insurance Bantam boys OBA baseball team laced up their cleats for an exhibition game with the Exeter Express whom they narrowly beat 2 to 1. The game took place on Sunday, June 5th and was part of the 1st (hopefully Annual) Mitchell Minor Baseball Day.

On Thursday, May 12, 2016, the Zehr Insurance Bantam OBA team travelled to St. Thomas for its season opener game.  Few errors coupled with a dominant presentation at the bats by the entire team, resulted in a 14 to 2 mercy over the St. Thomas Cardinals.
