I THINK A MOSQUITO ATE OUR LEFT FIELDER! By: Heather Monden
The Campbell Insurance WOBA bantam boys played in Parkhill against North Middlesex under the lights on Wednesday night.  Several mosquitos were in attendance for the game; however, a few lucky ladybugs would have been preferred against this tough team.

After a rough first inning, the boys got used to playing without a grass infield and brought their A game, but as hard as they tried they just could not catch up.

Jake MONDEN spent the first four innings on the mound.  During his tenure he struck out two batters and he consistently threw flawless pitches preventing anyone from walking.  Reid RAMSEYER came in as the closer.  His pitches whistled past each batter.  Despite their best efforts to hit these rockets, a few even tried to bunt, they just could not get a hit off of this kid.  He was responsible for all three outs leaving all three standing there wondering what just happened here.

Brenden BOVILLE got the first out in the second inning.  It was a fly ball to left field that he not only caught, but then did a barrel roll and quickly sprang back to his feet (ball still in glove) in an effort to locate the base runner.  Ashton CNOCKAERT made the long throw from 3rd to 1st in the third inning to capture the last out and Johannes RENECKER caught a beauty fly ball in right field deep in the fourth inning to give his team a much needed out.

Offensively, MONDEN and Judd WALKER both crossed home plate twice while Zach WARD, RAMSEYER, Stephen BIRD, Alec MURRAY, and Tyson McINTOSH all score singles.  Jackson MacARTHUR and BIRD both had hits that brought in two RBI’s.

The team went home with a 16-9 loss and several mosquito bites, but they played a great game, after that first inning, and had a lot of fun.
