Harris 7, Wood 18: Team Harris Suffers a Tough Loss on Mitchell Minor Ball Day
Despite the blustery weather and rain-delayed morning, Mitchell Minor Ball Day was a fun-filled day for everyone! In some friendly Mitchell vs Mitchell exhibition games, we saw some great plays by all of the kids involved. In our exhibition game, the Fuller Tool Sales Minor Rookie Team Harris had a tough outing against the mighty Team Wood. Team Wood's defense stood strong and held Team Harris to 7 runs. Even with the weather and the loss, Team Harris played hard and were in good spirits for the whole game.

Team Harris' bats must have still had the weights on them, as they started slow, with the bottom of the order having a big 2nd inning for the team. Seth Brown and Thomas Schoonderwoerd both scored in the 2nd, each reaching 1st both times they got up to bat. Carson Lubbers also hit off the machine and scored both times up-to-bat.

Our offence continued to contribute as the game went on. Kayla Visneskie and Lincoln Laverty both had good solid singles and Elyn Hannon showed off her slide when she came within a razor's edge of beating the throw to 1st.

We can't forget those who excelled on the defensive side of the ball, either. After getting thrown out at first in the top of the 2nd, Carter Harris had determination all over his face as he vowed to "get that guy out". In perhaps the play of the game, Harris got his "redemption" out at 1st base in the bottom of the very same inning. Sean Gibbings showed off a highlight-worthy grab at 3rd by defying his size and making it look easy. Max Brodhagen also recorded an out at 3rd to end the inning.

Reegan Vessie hit both times off the machine and recorded a good, solid out at 3rd base. Keith Linton also got on base both times and showed good defensive play at every position he played.

Great game, Team Harris! Our next game is on Tuesday vs. the Goderich Seahawks. Let's go, team!
