Peewee OBA Lose in Listowel
The Mitchell Stratford RV Peewee OBA Astros ventured north for the third meeting of the season for the Highway 23 Series with the rival Listowel Legionnaires.  A combination of three errors and some mental miscues in the bottom of the fifth allowed Listowel to snap a 5-5 tie on route to an 11-6 victory over the Astros.

Ryan Hubbard drew the start on the mound, throwing 4 2/3 innings with six strikeouts before maxing out on pitch count with the game tied 5-5, yielding to Josh French to finish up.  Listowel took a 2-0 in the opening inning, but the locals would tie it up in the second inning on a one-out walk to Hubbard and a base hit by Kellen Russwurm.  Both runners trotted home on Carson Harmer's 2-run single.  The locals briefly took the lead in the third inning on a one-out base hit by Jarrett Van Bakel, followed by an RBI double by Caleb Templeman, who was driven in on a single by Hubbard.  Kellen Russwurm stroked a two-out double to keep the rally going, but was left stranded.  Listowel rallied to regain the lead in the 4th on a pair of walks and wild pitches, but Hubbard would settle down with back-to-back strikeouts and French induced a fly ball for the third out to end the threat with two runners left on base.
Trailing 5-4, Templeman opened the fifth inning with an opposite-field triple to right centre field, scoring on Hubbard's RBI groundout.  After Listowel broke it open in the bottom half with five runs, the Astros could only manage one more run in the top of the sixth on Keegan Priestap's RBI groundout scoring French.
Reaching base in all four at-bats were French and Russwurm, and Templeman led with two runs scored.
Next up is another busy weekend of ICBA baseball, hosting Brantford at 7pm Friday July 12th, followed by a 1pm double-header on Sunday July 14th vs Guelph.  All games at Cooper Field in Mitchell.
