Peewee OBA Notch Three Wins at Home on Weekend
The Mitchell Stratford RV Peewee OBA Astros swept a three-game home stand this past weekend, downing the Brantford Red Sox 22-6 on Friday night, and taking both ends of a double-header with the Guelph Royals on Sunday by scores of 20-6 and 17-12.

Jack Miller drew the start on Friday night, throwing three innings and giving up two runs on three hits with a pair of strikeouts.  Kellen Russwurm would finish up in the fourth inning for the mercy win.  Carson Harmer, Jarrett Van Bakel, Josh French, and Cody Bach each reached base in all four at-bats, with Harmer and Van Bakel each leading with four runs scored, and Harmer stroking a two-out solo home run down the left field line.  Van Bakel was a home run away from the cycle, and was conservatively held at third on his second triple of the game in the fourth inning.  Extra base hits were also recorded by French, Bach, Russwurm, Miller, and Caleb Templeman.
Keegan Priestap started the opening game at 1pm Sunday vs Guelph, going three innings giving up four runs on seven hits, with none for extra bases.  Joel Meinen entered the game in the bottom of the fourth, pitching two innings and giving up two runs on three hits.  Offensively, the Astros started out with four quick runs in the bottom half of the first, paced by Templeman's double and Jordan Visneskie's RBI triple.  Harmer and Visneskie reached base in all four at-bats, and Harmer once again scored four runs.  A strong defensive game was noted here, with many outstanding plays in the field to take away hits and extra bases.
Also missing the cycle by a home run in the opening game, Visneskie belted a 3-run shot to deep left centre in the opening inning of the second game.  The Astros continued to play long ball, as Templeman would hit a two-out solo home run in the fourth, and Russwurm tripled and doubled.  Scoring every inning, things got a bit sloppy defensively in the top of the fourth, as Guelph would score five runs to take an 11-8 lead.  The locals would tie it up again in the bottom half with a two-out rally led by Templeman's home run.  The Guelph bats would be effectively shut down the remaining three innings, scoring only one more run.  Mitchell would put the game away in the bottom of the fifth with five more runs, adding a single run in the sixth.  Meinen started on the mound, with Harmer providing middle relief, and Ryan Hubbard coming in with two out in the fourth to close out the win.  Next up for the Astros is a Thursday night road trip to Cambridge to avenge a season opener loss.
