"THE SADDEST DAY OF THE YEAR IS THE DAY BASEBALL SEASON ENDS"
The Wolfe Flooring Pee Wee OBA team travelled to Port Dover Labour Day weekend to compete in the Provincial D Championships.

Friday night the team battled Wyoming in a tight game.  After giving up five runs in the first inning, Mitchell battled back and the game was 5 - 3 until Wyoming scored in the bottom of the fifth.  Mitchell got one run in the top of the seventh to make the final score 6 - 4.  Reid RAMSEYER knocked in two runs with a double in the second inning, scoring Curtis EIDT and Ben SMALL.  SMALL and Eric GETTLER scored runs in the fifth and seventh inning.  EIDT pitched five strong innings of relief and struck out six batters.

Saturday afternoon, Mitchell took on Dresden in a long, hot elimination match.  Mitchell scored runs in each inning to come away with a 13-11 win.  SMALL had a good start on the mound before giving up runs in the third inning.  GETTLER pitched the fourth and RAMSEYER pitched the fifth and sixth innings.  Drew MacLEAN came in and pitched a perfect seventh inning to put the game away.  MacLEAN had a huge double early on to spark the offence.  GETTLER  scored three runs in the game while Ryan HARMER and SMALL each scored twice.

Saturday night, against league rival Listowel, Mitchell played another elimination game.  Listowel scored three runs early but Mitchell rallied with two runs in the top of the third.  Jackson MacARTHUR started things off with a walk and later scored on HARMER's hit.  SMALL also scored on Jake MONDEN's hit.

Callum McMANN put in a great pitching effort but after a couple of defensive errors in the bottom of the third things fell apart and Listowel exploded for nine runs.  Kyle RICHARDSON relieved McMANN on the mound to get out of the inning.  After a brief rain delay, RICHARDSON gave the team some hope by pitching a four pitch fourth inning.  Great defensive plays by RICHARDSON, EIDT and MONDEN made for a quick inning.  Needing a run in the fifth to avoid the mercy rule, MacARTHUR got another walk and stole second and later scored on a strikeout.  Unfortunately, Listowel answered with three runs of their own to win 14-3.

A good effort was put in by all team members to finish up a solid year.
