Two Tough Innings Costly
On Monday June 15th, the Walther's IDA Tier 2 team travelled to Exeter to battle the Express.  The visitors started slow and fell behind 7-1 after the first inning, as the defence struggled to get outs.  The Astros took over the middle innings and went into the bottom of 5 leading by 4 runs.  The bullpen was unable to hold the lead as the Astros had a Brett Cecil like collapse.  The hometown Express scored 5 and pulled out the 12-11 win.

During the middle innings the defence was airtight not allowing a run.  Jade Huygen was a rock at the hot corner, knocking down several balls and recording outs.  Tyler Scherbarth got his cardio workout in as he chased several hard hit balls in the outfield.  He was able to get the ball into the infield quickly, preventing runners from taking extra bases.
Jordan Visneskie, Huygen, Joel Meinen and Nolan Vessie all went three for three and scored nine of the eleven runs.  Slugger Brandon Dietrich and Ben Medhurst both had massive RBI doubles which highlighted a third inning in which Mitchell scored 5 runs.  Raylynn Bambrough also added two singles.
Next action for Walther's IDA Tier 2 is ne t Wednesday June 24 here in town.  They will be the first game of an exciting double header.  The second game will feature the hometown Mitchell Mets against the high flying Shakespeare Falcons in South Perth Mens Fastball action.  Scherbarth has an ice cream on the line as he placed a wager with an unnamed coach, Scherbarth has taken the Mets.
