Best Effort of Year Comes Up One Run Short
In the second game of the WOBA championship tournament, the Walther's IDA tier 2 team came up against the Goderich Seahawks Black team.  Throughout the regular season, the Seahawks had outscored the Astros by a combined score of 57-18 in three games.  With that being said, the Seahawks came into the game as the heavy favourites.  However, the Astros would not rollover in this game, taking blow after blow and answering back with counter punches of their own in a very exciting ball game.  Mitchell would jump out to a 4-0 lead after the top of 1, but Goderich would answer back with 7.

The Astros would blank the Seahawks in the second highlighted by an outfield catch by Zach Huygen, who is still probably smiling now!  The Astros would tie it up in the top of 3, however the Seahawks flexed their muscles again, and scored 7 in the bottom of 3.  Both teams would hold each other scoreless in the fourth.  After Mitchell scored 2 in their half of the fifth, Goderich would try some stall tactics in the bottom of the fifth to try and exceed the time limit.  This was highlighted by the Goderich pitching coach taking a text, rumoured to be from John Gibbons, in order to get some advice on how to cool off the hot Astro bats.  The Astros would be allowed to bat in their half of the 6th and would plate 6 more runs and have the tying run on 3rd.  However, a stellar play by the Seahawks infield would end the game and season for the Astros.  Final score 16-15.
Several big hitters showed up for the Astros in this game lead none other than the hard hitting Joel Meinen, Brandon Dietrich and Darius Ladd who all had 4 hits, registering 2 doubles a piece.  Jordan Visneskie also had 4 hits, while Ben Medhurst and Payton Wood each had 3 hits.
The defence was solid all game as players sacrificed their bodies to knock balls down.  One player was seen with the stitch marks of the ball on his forehead.
The coaching staff was very proud of all the players for their effort not only in this game, but for the entire season.  To look back at the first practice, and then to our last game, and see the leaps that every player took, a coaching staff can not do anything but smile!  Well done.  However their hardest game is yet to come.  They will face a team of parents!!!!
