Rookies Open Season With Win Over Exeter
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros opened their season on May 9th, defeating visiting Exeter Express by a score of 30-11.
The locals got off to a shaky start, giving up the 7-run mercy max in the top of the first, clearly affected by opening day jitters with the bleachers filled!  The boys answered back with 5 runs of their own in the bottom half, and then settled in defensively by only allowing 4 more runs the rest of the game.

The bats caught fire in the third inning, as the Astros erupted for the 7-run max in three consecutive innings to take a commanding 27-10 lead.  A well balanced offense was on display, as each Mitchell batter would cross the plate at least once.
Jordan Visneskie paced the offense with 5 hits, including 2 home runs, with Joel Meinen leading with 4 runs scored. Three runs each were scored by Jack Miller, Charlie Geiger, Dominic Marshall, Kellen Russwurm, and Ryan Hubbard, and extra-base hits were also recorded by Meinen, Miller, Marshall, and Russwurm.
Sparkling defensive plays were made by Carson Harmer, Darius Ladd, and Hubbard.
Next up for the locals is hosting Listowel on Mon May 16th at 6:30pm.
