Rookies Win on Windy Night in Lucan
The Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookies traveled to Lucan on June 20th, battling all the elements of heat, wind, and narrowly missing the rain to return home with a 23-3 victory.
Leadoff hitter Carson Harmer set the tone early with a solo home run to open the game, and added a 3-run shot in the 2nd to drive in the eventual winning run. Harmer was the only Mitchell batter to reach base safely each time, adding a double and two singles, and another run scored.
Dominic Marshall and Ben Medhurst each hit deep triples, with Medhurst's driving in two runs to open the scoring in the third inning. Jordan Visneskie also chipped in with an RBI double in the 5th. Medhurst and Hayden Nicholson each scored three runs, and Darius Ladd drove in three runs with three base hits.
Next up for the locals is the Wallaceburg tournament this weekend, with round robin play opening at 10am Saturday morning vs Wyoming.
