Rookies Defeat Saugeen Shores
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros moved to 10-0 in league play with a 24-11 victory over visiting Saugeen Shores on June 30th.
The locals opened the scoring in the bottom of the first by plating the maximum 7 runs, as the first 7 batters all came around to score. Not to be intimidated, Saugeen Shores answered back in the top of the second with 6 runs of their own.
Mitchell would break it open in the fifth with another 7-run inning to seal the victory. Reaching base safely each at-bat were Carson Harmer, Joel Meinen, and Zach Houben. Scoring three runs each were Meinen, Houben, Kellen Russwurm, Ben Medhurst, and Hayden Nicholson. Medhurst hit a solo home run to start the fifth, and extra base hits were also recorded by Houben, Ryan Hubbard, and Harmer with a 2-run triple in the second. Harmer would lead with 4 RBI's, and Meinen and Darius Ladd each knocked in three runs.
