Rookies Open Western Road Swing With Win in Goderich
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookie Astros opened a three-game western road swing on July 13th, downing the Goderich Seahawks 26-8.
The well-balanced offense was on display once again, as each Mitchell batter reached base and scored at least one run.  Darius Ladd had a career night at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a 3-run HR and 4 RBI's, and Dominic Marshall also had a hot bat, stroking a 3-run HR, driving in 4 runs, and scoring 5 times.

Ryan Hubbard hit a solo home run in the 4th inning, and Zach Houben and Jordan Visneskie both hit RBI triples, with Visneskie and Kellen Russwurm each driving in 4 runs.  Extra base hits were also recorded by Russwurm, Joel Meinen, Ben Medhurst and Charlie Geiger.
Right field was the hot spot for defense on this steamy night as Ladd threw out one Goderich runner and combined with first baseman Hubbard to gun down another one trying for a home run on a deep ball hit in the gap.  Hayden Nicholson also recorded an assist from right field by throwing out a runner.
The infield was also doing their share, as Carson Harmer and Marshall combined on a double play to erase a Goderich scoring threat in the fourth inning.
