Rookies Take Win at Saugeen Shores
The Mitchell Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookies headed for a lengthy road trip on July 19th, making it worthwhile returning home with a 21-8 victory over the host Saugeen Shores Sting.
The teams traded scoring opportunities for the first four innings until Mitchell, holding a three-run lead going into the top of the fifth, broke it open by plating the seven-run maximum.
The locals opened the inning with six consecutive base hits, as Ben Medhurst, Ryan Hubbard, Joel Meinen, Carson Harmer, and Dominic Marshall all collected RBI's.
Jack Miller led with four runs scored, and Kellen Russwurm and Jordan Visneskie each crossed the plate three times. Medhurst drove in six runs for the second consecutive game (coincidentally when his dad was absent for both games.......hmmmmmm....) and Visneskie added four RBI's. Marshall and Russwurm turned a double play to finish off the game in the last inning.
