Mosquito Team Opens Season With Win at Home
The Mitchell Feeney Design Build Mosquito Astros opened their season at home on May 17th, rallying from a 7-run deficit to defeat the Southwest London Scorpions 11-9.

Things started off slow for the locals on the field, as a series of season-opening nerves led to numerous errors and 4 runs for the visitors in the opening inning.  Mitchell bounced back in the bottom half, starting the season off at the plate with a solo home run by leadoff batter Brennan Ward.  Kellen Russwurm drew a walk and was tripled home by Josh French, who then scored on an RBI groundout by Jordan Visneskie.
The defensive jitters continued in the second inning, as London plated another 4 runs to take a commanding 8-3 lead.  Mitchell's bats went quiet for two innings until the bottom of the fourth.  Russwurm singled and French walked, and both were driven home on Visneskie's 3-run homer to narrow the score to 9-6.
Relief pitchers Visneskie and Blake Redfern shut down the London bats, paving the way for the big comeback in the bottom of the fifth.  Callum Harris and Carter O'Brien opened the inning with consecutive walks, followed by RBI singles by Lincoln Lorentz and Ward.  Working his way around the bases to third, Ward eventually scampered home with the winning run on a headfirst slide across the plate ahead of the catcher's tag.  Redfern worked a 1-2-3 top of the 6th for the save.
A great opening night for the fans to remember!!!
