Mosquitos Hold On For Tie In Local Matchup
Submitted By Trevor Russwurm on Tuesday, August 1, 2017
The Feeney Design Build Mosquito Astros (Team French) faced a familiar opponent on July 31st, squaring off in Mitchell against the host Perth County Chrysler Mosquito Astros (Team Medhurst).

The visitors jumped on the bats quickly as Brennan Ward and Kellen Russwurm opened the game with base hits. Ward trotted home on Josh French's RBI single, and Jordan Visneskie cashed Russwurm and French with a two-run double to build a 3-0 lead.  The home team chipped away with a couple of runs over two innings, and Team French added three more runs in the top of the fourth as Visneskie, Nolan Vessie, and Brock Boville all came in to score to take a 6-2 lead.
Some defensive miscues in the bottom of the fourth led to five unanswered runs for Team Medhurst, who took a brief 6-5 lead.  Russwurm drew a two-out walk in the fifth, advanced on a wild pitch, and scored the tying run on French's RBI single.  The defense held their opponents in the fifth and both teams traded a scoreless sixth to end in a 7-7 tie.
Starter Russwurm went three innings giving up two earned runs, relieved by Ward for two innings.  Visneskie closed out the final inning to preserve the tie.
