Mosquitos Go 1-1-1 For The Week
The Feeney Design Build Mosquito Astros had a busy schedule this week with three games, spreading the results around evenly with a win, loss, and a tie.
The team began the week on June 19th, with a rain-shortened home loss to the Goderich Seahawks, as the game was called in the top of the fourth with Goderich leading 8-2. The visitors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, and the locals only answered back with one run as Kellen Russwurm would cross the plate.  Goderich would explode for six more runs in the second to take a commanding lead, and Mitchell's only other run came on a double by Brennan Ward followed by an RBI single by Josh French. Ward started the game and was relieved by Blake Redfern until the game was called.

Two nights later, the Astros travelled to Listowel to face the Legionnaires #3.  Leading 8-7 going into the bottom of the last inning, a heartbreaking solo home run was hit by Listowel to tie the game and snatch the win away from the locals.  Jordan Visneskie started, and was relieved by French to finish up.
On June 25th Mitchell Minor Baseball Day, the squad hosted fellow local rival Mosquito Dearing, resulting in a 10-6 victory.  The home team scored early and often, building a 7-0 lead after two innings.  Nolan Vessie, Visneskie, Redfern, and French all scored with two out in the first inning.  Russwurm and Visneskie each scored three runs and had an extra-base hit, and Jacob Bye was the only batter to reach base safely in each at-bat.
Ward drew the start again on the mound, with Vessie coming in to relieve and finish up.
