It looks like the weather is going to heat up next week, just in time for tryouts. The following times are scheduled for our team tryouts:
Wed April 26 6:30PM Cooper Field
Tues May 2 6:30PM Cooper Field
Thurs May 4 6:30PM Cooper Field
Cooper Field is at the corner of Wellington and Frank St.
Every peewee player in Mitchell is welcome to come to tryouts. Even if you aren’t willing to commit to the OBA schedule it would still be helpful to come out—and it’s free baseball. We will have 2-3 players listed as “AP’s” and they will be the first kids called when we need players due to injury, vacation, …. And those players will be invited to all our practices if they so choose. So being an AP is a good opportunity as well but the coaching staff needs to see you at tryouts to make that selection. So please come.
Each player at tryouts must bring:
- glove
- hat
- jock
- long baseball or athletic pants
It is strongly recommended to wear baseball cleats as it’s easy to slip on the field, especially if it’s at all wet. For those who have their own bat they are welcome to bring it along. Team bats will be provided for those who don’t. NOTE: official OBA rules state that a peewee player cannot use a bat with a drop larger than -10. So those -12 bats from mosquito are NOT allowed.
Please check the website for weather cancellations. Tryouts will be cancelled by 2:00PM but email notice from the coaching staff may not be possible.
