TOUGH LOSS
The Pee Wee #1 team had a rocky start against the Goderich #1 team in baseball action on Tuesday, August 5th as the home team dominated Mitchell with a 12-3 lead after the second inning. Jake MONDEN, Jared RAMSEYER and Tyson McINTOSH were the successful run scorers at this point. Alec MURRAY added a rocket to center field, but we could not quite get him home.
Curt EIDT started on the mound and struck out 3 batters, but Goderich dominated offensively.
Things changed, however, in the third inning. Focus and determination set in and our Mitchell boys rallied back only allowing Goderich 5 more runs to our 6 for the remainder of the game. MONDEN and James COPELAND each cranked out doubles to the field in the third while Reed McKENZIE and Damon KAY both got an RBI in the fourth which kept the momentum going for the team.
MONDEN took to the mound and the team came together. In usual style, Jake WALKER camped out and effortlessly caught a fly ball in left field. A successful pick off at 3rd performed by MONDEN and Jared RAMSEYER brought up the team's spirit. KAY knocked down several hits to short and made a beauty play to first to add to our exciting fifth inning.
Catcher, Reid RAMSEYER, kept the team focused and in the game while adding two outs with his perfct throws to first base. A quick sixth inning finished the game on a high note for our local boys despite the 17-9 loss.
Our final season game is Thursday, August 7th in Mitchell (please don't rain) followed by our year end tournament in Exeter on the weekend of August 15th to 17th. Wish us luck and come cheer on our team!
