The Zehr Insurance Bantam Blue WOBA baseball team took to the field on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 for its first game and win of the season. The boys defeated Owen Sound 11 to 5.
Curt EIDT was on fire as he pitched the first four innings of the night allowing only one hit and racking up five strikeouts. Jake WALKER took over on the mound for the next two innings and Jake MONDEN was the closer adding three more strikeouts to the tally.
In other defensive play, we saw catcher Reid RAMSEYER throw out a guy stealing 2nd and another attempting to steal 3rd. This kid throws like a cannon and always sets the tone early on in the game.
In the 2nd inning, Ryan HARMER, who occupied center field for nearly the entire game, threw a bazooka to 1st baseman, Brenden BOVILLE, to get a beauty out.
On the other side of things, the boys were on the sticks and used their smarts to put themselves in a scoring position several times throughout the game. HARMER and RAMSEYER started things off in the 1st with a run each, followed by Jackson MACARTHUR, EIDT and Brayden CRONIN-HORAN each adding one in the 2nd. The 3rd inning also proved fruitful as MACARTHUR and EIDT scored again as well as Drew MACLEAN. The team visited the score board once again in the 6th inning as HARMER, MONDEN and RAMSEYER brought the final score to 11.
The team is on the road Monday, May 23rd to Clinton and then back on their own turf Wednesday, May 25th to take on Goderich Black.
