Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookies take road win in Listowel
The Stickhandler Tier 1 Major Rookies travelled to Listowel on July 30th, coming home with a 22-16 victory. Mitchell opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by back-to-back RBI triples by Josh French and Lucas Roobroeck. Listowel would come back to tie it in the 3rd, but a grand slam by Roobroeck in the 4th restored the lead. Again tied to lead off the 7th, Mitchell broke it open with a 7-run inning, with key hits including an RBI triple by Dominic Marshall and a 3-run homer by Jordan Visneskie. Outfielder Kellen Russwurm, freshly returned from a 6-week stint on the DL, threw out two runners to Carson Harmer at second base.
Visneskie made a fly ball out and would also combine with Harmer to tag out a runner trying to stretch a long single. Jack Small had a solid game beside the pitcher, recording several outs to first on ground balls.
