Strong Defence Leads to Win over St. Marys
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Major Rookie Tier 2 Team 1 showed some strong play in the field in addition to some big bats Saturday morning at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Marys. The Mitchell Astros, with great teamwork defeated the home town club by a score of 15-4 in five innings.
The visitors had four hit performances by Hayden Nicholson, Blake Redfern, Josie Walker and Charlie Geiger while Keegan Priestap and Brennan Ward contributed 3 hits apiece. The biggest hit of the game came off the bat of Callum Harris on a big shot down the third base line.
Before the game, the team participated in a skills competition where Charlie Geiger won the longest hit event. A great effort was shown by the entire team's roster in each of the events.
