A Win To Start WOBA Tourney!
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Tier 2 Team 1 Mitchell Rookies bats were on a roll as they started off their WOBA year end tournament with a 25-3 win over Flesherton. Max Vandervelde, Charlie Geiger and Josie Walker all contributed doubles in the game. Walker crossed the plate four times, while Vandervelde, Geiger, Hayden Nicholson, Blake Redfern, Keegan Priestap, and Lincoln Lorentz all scored three and Carter O'Brien added two runs.
Flesherton struggled at the plate with 11 strike outs, but the Astros made some great defensive plays in the field to keep the base runners at a minimum. Nicholson would beat a runner to second base for an out in the second inning, and later in the fourth inning Lorentz and Geiger would combine for another out at second base. Josie walker also snagged a ground ball to make a great play at first base.
The team looks to continue their win streak Saturday morning as they face Exeter for a 10:15 game.
